Juxtaposition of natural and man-made objects. Nature 'breaking out' of a rigid, sterile form, such as a plinth.

Caves/Visual illusion

I've been to lots of caves before, but what was really interesting about these ones (in Spain) was that in the heart of the cave, deep underground, there was a lake which was so still that it perfectly mirrored the cave above it, creating the illusion that in front of you was a treacherous drop. In fact it was just a shallow lake, but it was so eerie, and I think this idea of visual illusion could really be played with. It reminded me of Richard Wilson work with oil.

Experimenting with projecting/installation....

I think this could work well as an installation. I want the viewer to be submerged in this green liquid, perhaps it would work better with multiple projections, pointed at all angles of the room to make it seem as though the room is filled with this green slime.
To go with this I've also been working on some sound pieces, recording the sounds of various liquids in different situations, for example a tap running, sauces bubbling on the stove, rainwater, and swimming pools.
It's all about creating a sensuous atmosphere, so obviously the sight and sound are really important. Perhaps think about the smell of it as well?
